DirectX 10 suits it, but DX9 not so much
We heard more than once that Radeon HD 2900 marchitecture is more suitable
for the DirectX 10 content then it is for the current stuff. The biggest
problem for ATI is that there is no a single DirectX 10 game or benchmark
out and the way things are going it will take till autumn until you see one.
The biggest problem today is that you have to convince the guys to buy the
cards today not in the future as in late Autumn ATI will already have R650
card to fight the upcoming G90 part.
R600 Shader design is meant for DirectX 10 but what can you do as there is
no a single game out. The only hope for DAAMIT today is Microsoft flight
simulator 10, the DirectX 10 version as these guys have beta at this
time. The big ones including Crysis and Unreal Tournament 2007 (might be
renamed to 2008) are still delayed for at least Autmn.
R600 is really caught in the Catch 22 situation as Geforce 8800 series ends
up faster in most of the today's games and R600 has a big chance to be
faster in the future content.
